Biographical/Historical note
Bertrand D. York was born in Brookfield, New York and graduated from the University of Michigan in 1877. He worked as a real estate attorney in Detroit, and when he retired in 1920 at the age of eighty-seven, he was listed as the oldest practicing lawyer in the country. He and his wife celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 29, 1930. Mr. York Died in Detroit in February 1950, at the age of ninety-seven.

Included in the collection are many letters of Bertrand D. York and Francis C. York.
