Biographical/Historical note

Presbyterian missionary in Michigan, Illinois and Wisconsin.Jeremiah Porter was a Presbyterian missionary and minister, serving Michigan, Illinois and Wisconsin. This collection contains photostats of journals written by Rev. Porter, describing his missionary work which was sponsored by the American Home Missionary Society, and his religious meditations. They also make note of scenery, living conditions and personalities, including the Henry R. Schoolcraft and John Johnston families of Sault Ste. Marie. He also describe temperance activities.
