Biographical/Historical note

Son of George (1760-1830) and Isabella Ironside. In 1826 he was appointed a clerk in the British Indian Dept. at Amherstburg, where he served until his removal to Manitowaining in 1846. He married Ann Symington circa 1828, and they had seven or eight children. Ironside died ca. 1860, and was succeeded by his son, Alexander McGregor Ironside. (Data adapted from Ironside MSS. ---L.
