Abstract
The business was chiefly concerned with collections, disputes over property, contracts, etc. All the partners were prominent as lawyers and as citizens. The papers consist of letters received and are confined to strictly legal matters.

Biographical/Historical note

Henry N. Walker came to Detroit from New York in 1834, studied law, and in 1836 became a member of the law firm of Farnsworth and Bates. In 1836 the firm became known as Bates & Walker, and in 1840, Douglas & Walker.
